The overall goal of the project “Life des Alpilles” is to maintain and restore the populations of 13 bird species of Community interest (Bird Directive).

Some of them are particularly endangered in the Alpilles and all of them are threatened in Europe. Therefore, it is essential to improve the habitat conditions to preserve their populations in the Alpilles.

The choice to include 13 species in one single project allows to cover a white range of conservation goals. The actions will have a positive impact on all of these species (e.g. restoration of open habitats, promotion of alternative farming practices, awareness raising of local stakeholders, etc.).

In addition, other endangered and rare bird species, like the Black-eared Wheatear (Oenanthe hispanica) will benefit from the project..

Let’s explore these 13 bird species !

Good look for spotting one of our 13 birds!
